There are many car rental companies, we can see a wide range of various rate for the same type of vehicle.
In general, a rate does correspond to a certain service and quality (vehicle age, equipment quality, maintenance, efficiency of the assistance).

To clarify all this, CARAN (Car Rental Association of Namibia) is actually busy setting up a quality grade.

• Category A : vehicle less than 60 000km and 1 year old for the 2X4 and 75 000 km with maximum 15 month old for the 4X4.
• Category A/B : 50% vehicles in category A and 50% vehicules in category B
• Category B : vehicle with less than 120 000km and 24 old maximum for the 2X4 and 150 000 km with maximum 30 month old for the 4X4.
• Category B/C : 50% vehicles in category B and 50% vehicles in category C
• Category C : vehicle with less than 180 000km and 48 month old for the 2X4 and 250 000 km with 54 month old maximum for the 4X4.

Some car rental do rent cars older than category C, there rate are very low and your chances to have problem with such cars is quite high. Those car rental companies do not comply with the minimum requirement to be CARAN member.
