Karas is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Namibia.

The name of the region comes from the importance of the Karas Mountains south of the region.
The region includes many farms raising goats or sheep. Irrigation and game farming are growing along the Naute Dam and the Orange River.

The port of Lüderitz has an important fishing activity.

The diamond area in southwest of Karas is forbidden to access. It produces significant revenue for the state of Namibia.

This region of Namibia is Africa’s border line Sud. Une Chamin iron and two main roads linking the Karas to South Africa. Keetmanshoop is considered the capital of the South. It is connected to the capital Windhoek by a main road, a railway track and a direct air line.
